Designed For Joy is pleased to announce the publication of its first book! The Designed For Joy Social Impact Brand Playbook is a resource for new and growing nonprofit and social justice brand organizations, sharing the history of Designed For Joy plus practical, actionable tips and resources.
The Designed For Joy Social Impact Playbook outlines Cary Heise and Kristen Sydow's journey from idea to reality in launching Designed For Joy as a 501(c)3 nonprofit business. It describes Designed For Joy's business structure and operating details, offering ideas and support for potential business owners to help tailor their own organizations for immediate and lasting impact.
"Over the past year or so, we've talked frequently with other nonprofits about how to get started, how to grow more efficiently, and how to structure a social impact brand for success. It just made sense to put our experience on paper, with the hope that others can use our insights to create positive change in their own communities," explained Founder and Executive Director Cary Heise.
Designed For Joy clients are provided immediate, dignified work in a safe space regardless of their background or current situation. Clients can participate in on-site case management and consulting, clinical and trauma therapy, on-the-job training and skills development, and pre-workshop devotion time if they choose. Community support for Designed For Joy has provided the opportunity to pay our artisans over $500,000 in living wages.
About to celebrate their 7th year in business, Designed For Joy continues to advocate for and hire women in crisis. They envision a broader community where every woman has the opportunity to earn a living wage through safe and dignified work.
