DESIGNED FOR JOY OPENING NEW NORTH HILLS LOCATION
The non-profit provides stability for women in crisis through immediate employment and support
RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 12, 2024 — Designed For Joy is excited to announce its expansion to a second boutique location in the North Hills shopping district. Designed For Joy joins a diverse lineup of micro-retail units as a part of Kane Realty’s brand new Innovation District in Raleigh’s Midtown.
“Not only did our recent holiday pop-up location at North Hills help us educate more people about our mission to support women working hard for their second chance, but also provide our products for purchase at a popular shopping destination,” said Cary Heise, executive director and co-founder of Designed For Joy. “This second location allows us the opportunity to increase our visibility and add a new career readiness program to the shopping experience.”
The goal of the career readiness program is to help the artisans secure management positions or management trainee roles. “The hope that we offer at Designed For Joy provides a safe space for women coming from difficult circumstances to tap into their inherent value as a person. They are more than someone who makes earrings or handbags. They learn how to make a safe connection with others and empower themselves with renewed self-reliance to enter the job market,” added Heise.
Grand Opening/Shopping Hours
A grand opening will be held on April 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with special giveaways, a chance to meet the founders, and more. The North Hills boutique is located on the bottom floor of the Channel House building at 540 St. Albans Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC. All of Designed For Joy’s luxury handbags, jewelry, and home decor, sustainably made by artisans in the downtown W. Cabarrus Street location, will be available for purchase. Following the grand opening, shopping hours will be Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thanks to a generous grant from the A.J. Fletcher Foundation and the Designed For Joy Giving Circle, the career readiness program is being funded for 2024. The organization is grateful to have the help from Christina Coffey of Lee & Associates in securing the new location.
